Since the beginning of winter, a large number of migratory birds have successively flew to Hunan Datong Lake to live through the winter, presenting the scene of a gathering of thousands of birds.

  Datong Lake is one of the four larger lakes that make up Dongting Lake. The water quality of Datong Lake was once inferior to Class V. Since 2017, it has been implemented in accordance with the policy of “retirement, interception, dredging, greening, and running water”. In the three-year "water raising" project, 100,000 mu of aquatic plants have been planted, changing from "underwater desert" to "underwater forest."

In 2019, more than 1,700 young swans flew for the first time over the winter, and the number of migratory birds in the Great Lakes has exceeded 100,000.
