Xinhua News Agency, Colombo, May 4th (Reporter Tang Lu) Huawei Corporation donated multiple communications and network equipment to Sri Lanka on the 4th. Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa attended the donation ceremony.

  The donation ceremony was held at the Sri Lankan Prime Minister's Palace in Colombo. These communications and network equipment include 5 sets of high-definition video conferencing systems and 6 high-precision thermal imaging cameras. The former is used by government departments to improve the efficiency of remote decision-making while reducing personnel contact; the latter will be used to quickly locate patients at potential risk.

  Mahinda Rajapaksa said that in this current challenging epidemic era, the information and communication technology industry has its unique value. Thank you Huawei for supporting Sri Lankan government departments to improve the efficiency of long-distance communication and help fight the epidemic.

  Liang Yi, CEO of Huawei Sri Lanka, expressed his belief that emerging information and communication technologies such as 5G, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and cloud technology will play an important role in the current anti-epidemic situation.
