The amount of property tax is expected to increase from 2022 for all homeowners.

The calculation of this amount depends on inflation, which will be 2.8% in 2021. This increase in property tax will be applied from October 2022.

DECRYPTION

This is bad news for home and apartment owners.

The amount of property tax should increase next year by a minimum of 2.8%.

An increase linked to that of inflation this year.

For three years, as the law emphasizes, the rental values used to calculate the amount of property tax must take inflation into account.

The increase could therefore even reach 3%.

An additional revenue of one billion euros

This increase is however unavoidable for André Laignel, vice-president of the association of mayors of France.

"Everyone suffers from inflation, and first and foremost, local authorities," he said at the microphone of Europe 1. "We must renovate schools, welcome early childhood in nurseries, face health obligations. It is natural that we can at least work with a euro which is constant, that is to say which takes inflation into account ", he explains.

The bill will be "painful"

In total, the increase in property tax should represent additional revenue of one billion euros for the State.

"With the overpressure of the housing tax, we must find funds, once again strip the owners", regrets Christophe Demerson, president of the National Union of owners, before warning: "The French can start to save money because the bill is going to be painful ".

The property tax increase will be applied in October 2022.
