Hosted by the Mohammed bin Rashid Library, the new cultural edifice in Dubai, the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) organized a digital publishing forum with the participation of a group of experts and specialists to discuss the latest developments and tools that contribute to the advancement of this field through technology and innovation, in line with the emirate’s trend towards The knowledge economy to promote sustainable growth.

The Acting Director of the Literature Department at Dubai Culture, Mohammed Al Habsi, stressed the importance of the role that digital publishing plays in the literary field, adding: “In light of the rapid technological development witnessed in our world today, digital publishing has become an essential link in the world of culture and knowledge dissemination, and plays an important role. enabling writers to publish their literary productions and make them available to the public on a wide scale.

During his opening speech to the conference, which was attended by the Executive Director of the Arts and Letters Sector at Dubai Culture, Dr. Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, he pointed to the great contribution of digital publishing in promoting the love of reading and knowledge among different segments of society, especially the younger generations, thanks to the attractive means it provides to make reading more Exciting and easy.

He noted that the forum aims to provide a platform for constructive dialogue between experts and specialists in the field of digital publishing through panel discussions that aspire to contribute to raising awareness of the mechanism of safe electronic publishing and its multiple tools, and encourage writers and publishers to turn to digitization and digital knowledge to spread knowledge and literature in forms that keep pace with the times and its requirements, and meet its requirements. Readers’ aspirations at the present time and in the future, considering that this forum forms part of the authority’s efforts to motivate all those concerned with cultural affairs to actively participate in the promotion of cultural and creative industries in the emirate, and to consolidate its position as an innovative global cultural center and capital of the creative economy.

The forum program included three dialogue sessions, the first of which was in English under the title “Digitization in the World of the Future” moderated by writer Iman Al-Youssef, and dealt with the axes of “Digital Publishing between the Future, Marketing and Challenges” discussed by publisher Iman Al Shaiba, and “Piracy and its impact on children’s content,” which he spoke About him, Dr. Nabih Abdul Majeed.

In the second session, titled “Digital Publishing between Impact and Vulnerability”, moderated by writer Salma Al-Hafiti, Issa Al-Hammadi discussed the “electronic innovations and their role in creating and consuming content”, while Yasmine Attia addressed the “challenges and opportunities facing digital publishing”.

As for the third session, which came under the title “Digital Publishing and Its Multiple Roles” and moderated by the publisher Jamal Al Shehhi, during which Shadi Al-Hassan discussed the topic “Piracy in the Digital World”, and Tarek Touma addressed the topic “Digital Publishing for the Child”.
