After obtaining authorization to resume on May 11, a new government decree will limit the organization of horse racing on racetracks located in the green zone, the organizing companies announced on Tuesday. "The modalities for opening racetracks must be published in the next few days," said France Galop and Letrot in a joint press release. But the directives will be applied this Thursday, May 21.

Thus, the dish meeting planned at ParisLongchamp is transferred to Deauville (Calvados). That of Friday from Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne) is moved to Vichy (Allier). This same day, the obstacle meeting of Compiègne (Oise) will finally take place in Dieppe (Seine-Maritime). Finally, on Sunday May 24, the ParisLongchamp meeting will again be transferred to Deauville.

Organizers "deeply regret"

The decree should specify that horse racing activity is well ensured in the departments located in the green zone but not in those located in a region in the red zone. They are Ile-de-France, Hauts-de-France, Grand-Est and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. "If the resumption of racing is strengthened by this forthcoming decree, the parent companies and the National Federation of Horse Racing deeply regret that the racetracks located in the red zones cannot function," reacted the companies Letrot and France Galop.

They claim that "the reinforced closed door protocol and all health measures have also been scrupulously respected since the resumption of competitions on May 11". They ensure that "regular checks have been carried out and they have revealed no problems". In addition, the organizers are working on plans to reorganize the calendar for the trotting and galloping races in May and June. It will likely change as soon as a red department turns green.
