Hong Kong media revealed that the mainland has drafted a list of diehards for "Taiwan independence". Expert interpretation: It can be understood as a strategy of "do not fight face to face"

[Global Times reporter Fan Lingzhi, Li Xue, and Cui Fandi] The Hong Kong "Ta Kung Pao" published a report on the front page on the 15th, saying that it had learned from authoritative channels that activities against "Taiwan independence" forces on Taiwan Island were rampant and arrogant. A list of diehards of "Taiwan independence" is being studied and effective measures such as severe sanctions will be taken against those diehards involved in "independence" remarks and malicious acts of "independence" and their main supporters, including the "Anti-Secession Law". "And the "Criminal Law" and "National Security Law" related to "secession crimes" and other provisions are brought to justice and held accountable for life.

This has caused concern in Taiwan.

Many scholars on cross-strait issues told the Global Times on the 15th that if the news is true, it shows that Beijing will not tolerate "Taiwan independence" forces challenging its own bottom line.

According to the report, Article 2 of the Mainland’s Anti-Secession Law stipulates that there is only one China in the world, and both the mainland and Taiwan belong to one China. China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity brook no division.

Safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity is the common obligation of all Chinese people, including Taiwan compatriots.

Taiwan is part of China.

The country will never allow "Taiwan independence" separatist forces to separate Taiwan from China in any name or in any way.

Article 11 of the National Security Law clearly stipulates that China's sovereignty and territorial integrity must not be violated or divided.

Safeguarding national sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity is the common obligation of all Chinese people, including compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Article 13 of the law emphasizes that any individual or organization that violates this law and relevant laws, fails to perform the obligation to maintain national security or engages in activities that endanger national security, shall be held accountable in accordance with the law.

Article 103 of the Criminal Law specifies the “crime of secession”: “Those who organize, plan, or implement the secession of the country or undermine the unity of the country shall be sentenced to life imprisonment or a fixed term of more than ten years if the chief element or the crime is serious. Imprisonment; those who actively participate shall be sentenced to more than three years but not more than ten years." Those who incitement to split the country or undermine national unity shall be sentenced to not more than five years of fixed-term imprisonment, criminal detention, surveillance, or deprivation of political rights; those who have committed major crimes or commit serious crimes shall be punished Fixed-term imprisonment of more than five years".

According to the report, in response to the frequent adventurous provocations of the "Taiwan independence" forces, the mainland is offering different types of disciplinary measures and corresponding tools to give the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces a head-on attack.

A number of Taiwanese media reprinted the "Ta Kung Pao" report on the 15th.

Taiwan’s “Central News Agency” stated that the Mainland Affairs Council responded to inquiries on the 15th, accusing the mainland of “deliberately manipulating extreme extreme issues and inciting cross-strait antagonism.”

On the 15th, Taiwan’s "communication minister" Lin Jialong tried to courage outside forces, saying that any action by the mainland against Taiwan would attract international attention and response.

"This means that the mainland will crack down on the'Taiwan independence' elements more severely." Yang Lixian, deputy secretary general of the National Taiwan Research Association, believes that those "Taiwan independence" elements who have been troubled for a long time should be included in this list, especially the DPP. Politicians who have openly advocated "Taiwan independence" and core members of various "Taiwan independence" organizations.

In addition, some "Taiwan independence" elements have been investing and making money in the mainland as "dual-faced people." I believe that after the list is released, they will be completely blocked from the mainland.

Zhang Yazhong, a professor of political science at National Taiwan University, believes that the "list" can be understood as a strategy of "do not fight face-to-face" under the situation that Beijing has not yet launched its military and economic measures to fully counter "Taiwan independence".

Taiwan's senior political commentator Tang Xianglong told the Global Times on the 15th that if the news is true, it is tantamount to subdividing the political confrontation between the two sides of the strait and putting it on the individual. This has never been done before.

And the current US government has changed from playing the "Taiwan card" in the past to now playing the "Taiwan independence card." It is unprecedented to adopt a step-by-step acquiescence and even encouragement towards "Taiwan independence."

"Taiwan independence" is no longer just a "closed discussion" within Taiwan. It has changed from speech to action and spilled over to international politics. It is impossible for the mainland to retreat on these issues.

Another domestic expert familiar with the Taiwan issue told the Global Times reporter on the 15th that since Tsai Ing-wen's second term in office, the separatists on the island of Taiwan have been arrogant and innocent, including cursing the mainland and intimidating Taiwan compatriots who advocate cross-strait reunification and exchanges.

These "Taiwan independence" diehards feel that they can act unscrupulously and do whatever they want as long as they rely on the United States. They think that the mainland will not be able to cure him if they yell across the bank.

Tolerable or unbearable, they made the wrong calculation.

The deterrence of the draft list does not lie in whether they will be arrested and sentenced, but an attitude declaration, in a sense like "red-pass elements."

At least they cannot go to mainland China, Hong Kong or Macau, nor can they go to countries that understand our approach.

This is equivalent to these people becoming wanted criminals in a certain area of the world.

Just like the "War Criminals List" back then, these people must be afraid.

We don’t need to worry about those people who are on the list dying to sue in the international community.

In any case, the United States and the West will definitely oppose China's actions. Just like the Hong Kong National Security Law, our determination to safeguard national security and sovereignty will never change even in the face of international pressure.
