According to Hong Kong's "Wen Wei Po" report, in response to the detection of the new crown virus in Macau mango samples imported from Taiwan, the Hong Kong Food Safety Center strengthened the detection of similar products in real time, and detained a batch of 33 boxes (a total of 33 boxes). On the 6th, we received a test report from the Department of Health, indicating that a surface sample of mangoes imported from Taiwan was positive for the new coronavirus.
After learning the test results, the Hong Kong Centre for Food Safety has immediately instructed the relevant distributors to stop selling the affected products and remove them from the shelves, and destroy all the mangoes in the affected batches.
In addition, the center has also dispatched personnel to inspect the warehouses concerned, requiring the person in charge to conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection.
The center will continue to strengthen the inspection of similar products in the future.
To prevent the introduction of the novel coronavirus through imported frozen food, the Hong Kong Centre for Food Safety has stepped up preventive testing measures since mid-2020, including at the food inspection offices at the airport and by dispatching staff to the importers' freezer rooms Testing various types of frozen food and its packaging entering Hong Kong from different countries/regions. So far, more than 37,000 food and packaging samples have been taken for virus testing.
In addition to the above-mentioned samples, there are only the samples of squid and packaging announced in August last year, the samples of squid slices and packaging announced in November last year, the packaging samples of beef and pork skin announced in February this year, and the packaging samples of beef offal announced in April this year and chicken drumstick packaging samples tested positive.
