Just before nine o'clock on Tuesday morning, representatives from several different pensioners' associations gathered in Linköping to demonstrate.
The time was carefully chosen when the municipal council was to begin a short time later and the politicians could not miss the influx of protesters.
- We are here to demonstrate against the home service being procured, said Gun Bredstedt, chairman of Kommunal's pensioners' association, SKPF.
The worst thing is the procurement. The
change means that there may be more private contractors, but that is not the problem, according to Gun Bredstedt.
She believes that continuous procurement worsens care and staff conditions.
- Procuring us pensioners at regular intervals is the worst, you do not know if the staff is left or what happens, she says.
Confidential system
Last summer, the decision was made to change the home care service in Linköping.
Instead of having a system of freedom of choice, from the spring of 2023, one will switch to a home service that has been procured (the Public Procurement Act, LOU).
What the system will look like is difficult to know at the moment because most of the changes are confidential.
- I can not go into details, but I note that this change is absolutely necessary to meet the challenges that elderly care has, says Liselott Fager (KD), chair of the elderly committee.
