A manuscript

"Brilliant, high-spirited, and crossed the Yalu River..." This "Chinese People's Volunteers Battle Hymn" has been sung throughout the country's rivers and north, as well as the three thousand miles of North Korea.

The song was written on the afternoon of November 26, 1950. The famous musician Zhou Weizhi was deeply attracted by a poem quoted in the front-page article when he read the "People's Daily" that day.

He felt it, and finished the song in only half an hour.

The title of the song originally chose the last sentence of the poem, that is, "Defeat the American Emperor Ambition Wolf".

During this period, some publications reposted this poem under the title "War Hymn of the Chinese People's Volunteers Army".

Zhou Weizhi felt very good, so he named the song "The Battle Hymn of the Chinese People's Volunteers".

Later, after various searches by the troops, the original author of this poem was finally found. He was Ma Fuyao, instructor of the 5th Company of the 26th Regiment, 1st Division, Artillery Corps.

At the mobilization meeting on the eve of entering the dynasty, Ma Fuyao was infected by the soldiers' high morale and wrote this poem: "Her vigor and high spirits, crossing the Yalu River. To protect peace and defend the motherland is to protect his hometown. China is good. Sons and daughters, unite together to fight against the US and aid Korea, and defeat the American imperial ambition wolf!"

This poem has been widely circulated in the volunteer army, aroused the fighting spirit of countless soldiers.

Today, when we relive this battle song, the soldiers' determination to defend their homes and the country until death is still admirable.

When visiting the theme exhibition "Remembering the Great Victory and Defending Peace and Justice" on October 19th to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Volunteers’ mission to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea, President Xi Jinping emphasized:

"

In the new era, we will inherit and carry forward the great spirit of resisting U.S. aggression and aid Korea, and strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. ."

A newsletter

"Who are our loveliest people? Our troops, our soldiers, I think they are the loveliest people."

At dawn on November 30, 1950, the 335th Regiment of the 112th Division of the 38th Army of the Chinese People's Volunteers who participated in the Second Battle to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea went to Songgu Peak in pursuit of the American troops who fled south.

To gain time for the large forces to encircle, the 1st Battalion and 3rd Company were ordered to seize the unnamed highland on the north side of Songgu Peak and intercept the enemy.

The soldiers climbed up the bare mountain pack and had a "face-to-face" encounter with the US army before the fortifications were built.

In the face of the enemy's dark-pressed tanks and infantry units, the 3rd company regarded death as home-the platoon leader sacrificed the squad leader, and the squad leader sacrificed the soldiers to take the initiative...Finally, even the messenger and the cook participated in the battle.

After the battle, the writer Wei Wei specially came to this position guarded by the 3 consecutive companies, and was deeply moved.

After returning from the battlefield, he emotionally wrote "Who is the cutest person".

At the symposium to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Volunteers’ going abroad to fight the United States and Aid Korea, Xi Jinping said affectionately:

“In the Chinese People’s Volunteers, more than 300,000 heroes, including Yang Gensi, Huang Jiguang, and Qiu Shaoyun, and nearly 6,000 groups of heroes have emerged. They are worthy of their worth. The heroic sons and daughters of the Chinese nation deserve the honorable title of'the cutest person'."

The victory of the Songgufeng battle played an important role in ensuring that the main force played an important role in annihilating the enemy in large numbers on the western front and won precious time for the victory of the second battle.

The success of the second battle was the key to turning the tide of the war. It completely shattered the false claims of the "United Nations Army" Commander-in-Chief MacArthur to "end the Korean War before Christmas."

A commendation order, from then on "Long live the army."

In the second battle, the 38th Army created the miracle in the history of world war that "the two legs of the Chinese army are better than the wheels of the American army".

In recognition of their brilliant achievements, Commander Peng Dehuai wrote in the award telegram: Long live the Chinese People's Volunteers!

Long live the 38th Army!

Since then, the "Long Live Army" has become a household name.

On January 3, 2018, Xi Jinping inspected an army division of the Central Theater Command and visited the division history museum.

In front of the exhibition board reflecting the division’s fierce battle against Songgufeng during

the war to resist U.S. aggression and

aid to Korea, President Xi Jinping said with emotion:

“This battle was fought very fiercely, and the fighting style of the officers and soldiers is very tenacious. Our military has always been vigorous. There is more gas, now there is more steel, more gas, and harder bones."

An absolute letter

"I love my relatives and my country, and I love my honor even more. I am a glorious volunteer soldier, ice and snow, I will never succumb to you, even if it freezes to death, I will stand proudly on my ground."

After the Battle of Changjin Lake in the Second Battle to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, people found this letter on a soldier named Song Amao.

At the end of November 1950, a cold winter that had not been seen in decades swept across northern Korea.

In the Changjin Lake area, there was heavy snowfall and the temperature dropped sharply.

In the words of the soldiers at the time: Here, the cold is far more terrifying than bullets.

The low temperature of minus 30 or 40 degrees Celsius, coupled with long-term latency, caused some volunteers to lose their combat ability due to severe frostbite before they had time to fight the enemy.

However, the volunteer soldiers lay in ambush in the ice and snow, and would rather freeze to death than expose the position of the team, and would rather freeze to death than surrender.

It was under such difficult conditions that the three armies of the 9th Corps of the Chinese People's Volunteers had a direct contest with the world-class weapons and equipment and the outstanding combat achievements of the US 10th Army.

After nearly a month of desperate struggle, the Chinese People's Volunteers ended in victory-not only set a record for an entire regiment of US troops in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, but also forced the US troop, the trump card, to carry out "the longest retreat in history."

The 9th Corps of the Volunteers fought a desperate battle in the severe cold on the Eastern Front, fought the "United Nations" army from the Yalu River back to the 38th Front, fundamentally reversed the situation of the Korean War and laid the foundation for victory in the final armistice negotiations.

  Xi Jinping said:

"The great spirit of resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea is a vivid portrayal of the lofty demeanor of the Chinese Communists and the People's Army, a concentrated display of the traditional virtues and character of the Chinese nation, and a concrete manifestation of the national spirit with patriotism at its core."

A pennant

"The artillery bombs overturned the land, we can't say you invade; the fire burns the rocks, we can't say you go ahead. The hero stands on the top of the mountain, and the hero's blood is shining..." This song "Singing Baiyun Mountain" "Describes the scene of the Chinese People's Volunteers fighting against Baiyun Mountain.

On January 25, 1951, the fourth battle of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea broke out. Among them, the Baiyun Mountain blockade started on the south bank of the Han River.

This was a contest of great power disparity: the enemy army in control of the air sent raven-like warplanes to bombard indiscriminately, and the 447 regiment did not even have an anti-aircraft machine gun or an anti-aircraft gun.

Lu Pin, 97, who was the deputy political commissar of the 447th Regiment of the 149th Division of the 50th Army of the Volunteer Army, recalled: "This is the sea of fire tactics." After that, it splashed on the body, and it couldn't be put out."

However, the soldiers of the 447 regiment did not flinch at all, and stubbornly resisted the frantic attacks of the U.S. army for 11 days and nights.

The 447 Regiment relied on this tenacious perseverance to hold on to its position and finally wiped out more than 1,200 US troops at the cost of 344 casualties and successfully completed the blocking task.

In March 1951, the 50th Army of the Volunteers awarded the regiment the honorary title of "Baiyun Mountain Regiment". This pennant is written with their indelible dedication and glory.

On October 19, President Xi Jinping visited the theme exhibition "Remembering the Great Victory and Defending Peace and Justice" to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Volunteers’ mission to

resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea

. He said:

"The great spirit of resisting U.S. aggression and aggression formed during the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea is a precious spiritual wealth. It will inspire the Chinese people and the Chinese nation to overcome all difficulties and obstacles and defeat all powerful enemies."

"Heaven and earth are heroic, and the ages are still awe-inspiring"
