Daikichi Irokawa, a historian known as a pioneer in "People's History" research that captures history from the perspective of the general public, died at his home in Yamanashi Prefecture on the 7th due to senility.

Mr. Irokawa is from Chiba prefecture. After graduating from the University of Tokyo, he worked as a teacher at a junior high school and then as a lecturer and professor at Tokyo Keizai University.



He went to the site and worked on research on regional history to investigate the history of the land, and in 1968 he discovered the private draft of the Constitution "Gokaichi Constitution Draft" made by the citizens in the Meiji era. He played an active role as a pioneer in the study of popular history.



He published a number of books based on his own research and activities, and in 1975, he advocated the writing of "Self-History", which summarizes his life in writing and looks back on it. rice field.
