Head of Astronomy Research: We recorded a thousand earthquakes in Egypt last year!

Dr. Gad El-Kady, head of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research in Egypt, said that the country records earthquakes on a daily basis, and a thousand earthquakes were recorded last year.

In televised statements, Al-Qadi indicated that there are expectations that a major earthquake will occur in the eastern Mediterranean.

Regarding the Cyprus earthquake that occurred last week, Al-Qadi explained that this earthquake occurred at exactly 3:7 am Cairo time, and caused concern among some about its consequences.

"There is a difference between feeling the earthquake, and its consequences or problems, and there is a difference between the Cyprus earthquake, which occurred within the Mediterranean, and the 1992 earthquake, as it happened in Dahshur inside Egypt," Al-Qadi added.
