Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Hagenbeck's zoo welcomed visitors for the first time on Wednesday after a break of several months due to the corona pandemic.

In bright sunshine, the first guests came to the opening of the outdoor area in the morning.

There are strict rules for visitors: Those who want to go to the zoo need a time slot ticket booked online that allows entry within the booked hour.

It is not possible to buy tickets on site.

Visitors have to present a negative corona test.

The stay in the zoo is not limited in time.

According to the zoo management, the tropical aquarium will remain closed until further notice.

A total of 4,000 visitors are allowed to visit the zoo per day.

Press spokeswoman Sabina Bernhardt had already expressed her anticipation on Monday: "We are relieved that we can finally get started again."

The opening was possible because Hamburg took over the so-called corona emergency brake of the federal government.

After that, the outdoor areas of zoos and botanical gardens are allowed to reopen.
