Over 30 wildfires occurred over two weekends alone, and the fires in Gyeongbuk and Gangwon areas in the afternoon of today (10th) are still not extinguished.

Today, around 1:10 pm, a fire broke out in a mountain in Gunwi-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do.



There were no casualties, but 19 ha of forest land was burned.



Authorities have issued a 'wildfire response stage 2' within an hour of the fire, and 27 firefighting helicopters and 54 crew members are put in to put out the fire.



A fire broke out at a mountain in Yanggu-gun, Gangwon-do, around 3:40 p.m.



The fire spread rapidly with strong winds of 10 m/s.

The fire burned nearby private houses and buildings, and 50 nearby residents were evacuated.



With the burnt forest reaching 60 hectares, the fire department is having a hard time extinguishing it.

Following yesterday, fires broke out across the country today, resulting in a total of 37 wildfires over two days over the weekend.



Authorities have urged people to refrain from handling fires, such as burning garbage, in areas adjacent to forests.
