Good year for the port of Norrköping - despite stormy freight traffic

In a report from last year, the Swedish Transport Agency lists how the shipping market was affected by the covid-19 pandemic.

These include crew members who became stuck on board ships, reduced freight volumes and affected freight flows.

Grows on the container side

Despite the challenges in shipping globally, the port of Norrköping has increased by about 15 percent in one year - and it is mainly on the container side that the port is growing.

- There we have had a very strong growth in the business and is now a fairly fast growing container port in Sweden, says Ola Hjärtström who is marketing manager for SVT Nyheter Öst.
