Scharnitz (dpa) - A ski hiker from Bavaria fell around 100 meters in Tyrol and was killed.

The Austrian police reported after the 31-year-old was found near the German border on Tuesday.

The man had been reported missing the day before after taking a ski tour to the Linderspitze alone and not returning.

After the search by the German police and mountain rescue services on Monday was unsuccessful, an Austrian police helicopter spotted skis on Tuesday.

A little later rescuers found the body of the man who came from the nearby Weilheim-Schongau district in Upper Bavaria.

The ski hiker was out in good mountain weather, said a police officer of the German press agency.

According to the investigation, he took photos at the summit at noon and then had an accident.
