Commissioner Gentiloni's invitation to the unity of intent of the member countries in the vicinity of the COP26 climate conference: "We cannot think of solving global problems with local responses". According to the European Commissioner, "Europe was crucial in defining the Paris climate agreements to achieve the goal of climate neutrality by 2050".
But the EU's goal, says Gentiloni, is even more ambitious: "In July, the Commission presented a package of proposals to reduce emissions by 55% by 2030: with changes to the way we tax energy , a strengthened and enlarged emissions trading scheme, and finally the electrification of the car fleet ", concluded Gentiloni.
The Glasgow conference will be decisive for sustainability and solidarity, and must combine growth, environment, development and equity.
