Canada's pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai unveiled a new art exhibition to highlight the many and diverse achievements that women contribute in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, as part of the Knowledge and Learning Week at the international fair.

In collaboration with the Canadian Museums of Science and Innovation (Ingenium), the graphic art panels in the exhibition, entitled: Women in STEM, pay tribute to the leadership skills of women in innovation, research and science throughout history, while highlighting their greatest achievements and contributions to date in solving pressing challenges, such as: Cancer research, Arctic issues, climate change, and access rights for people with disabilities.

The exhibition also addresses aspects of equality, diversity and inclusion in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Among the inspiring women featured in the genius exhibition are Dr. Lihad Al-Ghazali, Professor of Clinical Genetics at UAE University, and Dr. Hind Al-Abadla, Canadian Fulbright Research Chair in Climate Change, who also grew up and graduated in the UAE.

Visitors will also learn about Canada's first female astronaut, the first woman in the world to earn a master's degree in aerospace engineering, a Canadian entrepreneur working to raise awareness of disability issues, and other geniuses, achievers and pioneers in various fields.

The exhibition is part of the activities of the Canadian educational program, during the week of knowledge and learning at «Expo», and will be presented in the front yard of the Canada Pavilion until mid-January.

For her part, Commissioner-General of the Canada Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, Marie-Genevieve Monet, said: “Women have always made worthy and inspiring contributions to the world throughout history, and through this exhibition, we celebrate the strength and intellectual capabilities of women who unleashed their dreams and worked hard to achieve them.” .

She emphasized, “It is important to show girls and young women today that they can also go on to study and work in STEM fields.

By offering the idea that if I can see her, I can be her, we can dismantle the implicit gender biases that make us believe that only men succeed in STEM fields.”
