China News Agency, Lanzhou, May 8 (Reporter Ding Si) Qin Chuan, the general director of Gansu ’s local TV documentary "Chinese Grotto Corridor", interviewed by China News Agency on the 8th and said that the film was fully displayed in 4K ultra-high definition The important grottoes along the Silk Road explore the ins and outs of Chinese grottoes and display the entire process of Buddhist art in China.

The Qinchuan team planned and filmed in March 2018. In more than two years, they visited the four grottoes in the Sanqianli Grottoes corridor in Gansu, and traced westward to the Kizil Grottoes in Xinjiang and extended eastward to The Yungang Grottoes in Datong, Shanxi, and the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Henan all follow the trail of the Buddha ’s eastbound journey.

Qin Chuan said that from the Qilian Snow Mountain to the Yellow River Canyon, from the Loess Gully to the Qinling Mountains, the grottoes have stood for thousands of years, like a string of pearls scattered by Buddha, dotted on the golden belt of the Silk Road, forming a complete grotto art corridor.

"Along this corridor, Buddhist art has entered China." Qin Chuan said that the exchange of Buddhist civilization and Chinese civilization collided, giving birth to the unique Dunhuang Grotto Art in Gansu and the Liangzhou statue-making model. Grotto art first sprouted, developed, and spread into the Central Plains region in Gansu. During the Wei, Jin, and Northern and Southern Dynasties, it affected the construction of grottoes throughout the country, enriched the content and forms of Chinese art, and successfully integrated into the blood of Chinese culture.

Gansu is the most densely distributed area of grottoes in China. There are 205 existing grottoes with more than 50,000 square meters of murals and more than 20,000 statues. The number of grottoes ranks first in the country. Gansu occupies half of the four largest grottoes in China, and the top ten Buddha statues in ancient China are also based on Gansu.

"The documentary resurrected the Millennium Grottoes, let the audience walk into history, gain something, and discover the wonderful China in a grotto, so that China's excellent traditional culture can be continuously promoted and inherited." Qin Chuan said. (Finish)
