Uncommon, his life was so from his very first moments. Guest of the program "There is not only one life in life" on Europe 1, Thomas Dutronc, singer and musician, shared, on Saturday, some curiosities which make his childhood, an extraordinary childhood.
Gainsbourg "invited me to dinner once a month"
Born in 1973 in Paris, from the union of Jacques Dutronc and Françoise Hardy, Thomas Dutronc was immersed in the world of song, rubbing shoulders with the big names of the time from his earliest childhood. Hospitalized at the time of the birth of little Dutronc, Serge Gainsbourg still sent a word to his mother, writing that "if he is shy, it will be a little Thomas with a tomato". A word that he proudly had framed, and which now sits at home. "It's magnificent, he had a gigantic tenderness, he was also very funny and mischievous," says Thomas Dutronc.
The latter remembers his meals shared face to face with Gainsbourg. "He invited me to dinner once a month when I was 14," he recalls. "He took me to very chic places, sometimes I went there with a friend or two". The two men, who are 45 years old separate, told themselves funny stories, talked about music, remade the world. For Thomas Dutronc, Serge Gainsbourg was a kind of uncle. "I was very lucky to know him", he confides, at the microphone of Europe 1. "Unfortunately, I was young".

Late discovery of his father on stage
An illustrious "uncle", a father who is no less so. However, Thomas Dutronc says he saw his father on stage for the very first time at the age of 19. If his parents made their friends listen to their new albums at parties or aperitifs, allowing their son to hear their productions, the latter has no memory of a studio. "I just went to school," says Thomas Dutronc.
Also, because it was late, the discovery of his father on stage was a real pride. "I was very impressed," he says. "The success he had in this tour, it was crazy: he redid all the dates twice, every night someone very famous coming to see him and greet him in the boxes," he continues, evoking in particular François Mitterrand.
His father lived alone ... with his cheetah
If Thomas Dutronc waited 19 years to see his father on stage, he also had to wait a year after his birth to see him live under the same roof. "He had to take care of his cheetah," Sumo ", who slept with him in his bed," he says. Yes, Jacques Dutronc had a cheetah. He even had two, says his son. "We had to give them a whole leg a day, and every week, a live hen," he recalls, while his father lived in a Parisian apartment. "The cheetahs looked like they were getting really tough in an apartment in Paris, so he gave them to people who had a park."
