October 30, 2021 Prime Minister Mario Draghi asks the President of Congo for updates on the investigation into the murder of Ambassador Luca Attanasio and Carabiniere Vittorio Iacovacci.

This was announced by Palazzo Chigi after the bilateral meeting with the president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, on the sidelines of the G20 proceedings.

In the interview, the issues of access to vaccines and economic recovery in Africa were addressed.

Ambassador Luca Attanasio and Carabiniere Vittorio Iacovacci were killed during an intense firefight by the group that wanted to kidnap them on February 22 in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The versions of the witnesses confirm the reconstruction according to which the two Italians died not in an execution, but hit by the attackers while the carabiniere tried to bring the ambassador out of the line of fire between the kidnappers and the rangers, who intervened immediately.
