The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has compiled the number of long-term care personnel who work at facilities or provide home-visit care, which is estimated by prefectures in the future.
According to this, the number of long-term care workers nationwide was about 2.11 million in FY2019, but it is expected to increase by 320,000 in FY2025 to about 2.43 million.
Furthermore, in 2040, it is expected that about 2.8 million people will be needed, which is 690,000 more.
The demand for long-term care is expected to increase toward 2040, when the aging of the population peaks, and the turnover rate of long-term care personnel is high.
The number of long-term care personnel has increased at an average rate of about 37,000 for the three years up to FY2019, but to meet the outlook presented this time, about 33,000 to 55,000 will continue to be used each year. Will need to be increased.
