TEPCO has replaced the pipes and is investigating the cause of the damage in detail, saying that the cause was the "misalignment" of the joints of the pipes through which the liquid flows.

At the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, on the 16th of this month, an estimated 4 tons of liquid at -30 degrees Celsius, which is used as a "refrigerant" to create a "frozen soil wall" that freezes the ground around the building, leaked.



According to TEPCO's investigation, it was newly found that the joint between the pipe that sends the "refrigerant" and the underground pipe that freezes the ground was misaligned, and it seems that there was a leak. It means that it was done.



In the future, we will replace parts of other pipes and continue to investigate the cause of the misalignment of the joints.



The operation of the frozen soil wall started in 2016, but last year there was a problem that the temperature in the ground continued to exceed 0 degrees in a part of the frozen soil wall, and TEPCO conducted a boring survey later this month. We will implement it to investigate the cause.
