After more than three hours of meeting, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced the decisions taken to sanction endangering the lives of others on the internet, improve the fight against online hatred and strengthen the protection of civil servants.

The Council has already decided to supplement the bill with two new provisions.

The law on "separatism" will be presented on December 9 in the Council of Ministers.

It will include “

 the possibility of sanctioning those who put personal information online 

” threatening “

 the life of others 

”.

For this, Jean Castex announced a reinforcement of the staff of the Pharos networks monitoring platform and the creation of "

 a specialized pole at the Paris prosecutor's office to centralize prosecutions and improve their efficiency 

".

The fight against online hatred will be done in consultation with the European Commission, added the Prime Minister.

New legislation (Digital Services Act) must indeed be unveiled by the end of the year by the European executive to better regulate the tech giants, in terms of data management, disinformation and hate speech in particular. .
