The Deliveroo meal delivery platform has once again been convicted at first instance in France for concealed work.
The judgment reclassified the service contract of four couriers as an employment contract.
One of the cases concerns for the first time acts committed after 2017, i.e. beyond the period that the Paris Criminal Court had examined to condemn Deliveroo on April 19.
“
The concealed work was recognized, for one of them, for a period after the year 2017. However, Deliveroo has long claimed to have modified these practices along the way and no longer fear anything from justice
” , remarks Me Kevin Mention, lawyer for the plaintiffs,
The deliberation of June 3 by the Conseil de Prud'hommes de Paris, responsible for conflicts between employees and employers, therefore forced Deliveroo to pay a total of nearly 240,000 euros to the four deliverers, including the record sum of 128,548 euros to one of them, employed from February 2016 until April 2019.
Me Kevin Mention is satisfied with the judgment.
We had couriers who sometimes worked 50, 100 hours a week
