This Tuesday, four mathematicians received this Tuesday in Helsinki the Fields medal, this award issued every four years, equivalent to a "Nobel of mathematics".

Frenchman Hugo Duminil-Copin and Ukrainian Maryna Viazovska are among the winners.

She is the second woman to receive this distinction since the inception of the award.

Four mathematicians received the Fields medal on Tuesday in Helsinki, including Frenchman Hugo Duminil-Copin and Ukrainian Maryna Viazovska, the second woman to receive this prestigious distinction since the prize was created in 1936.

The other two winners of this award, issued every four years, considered the equivalent of a "Mathematics Nobel", are the US-based researcher June Huh and the Briton James Maynard.

The medal celebrates the "exceptional discoveries" of researchers under the age of 40.
