On the other hand, the Suwon District Prosecutor's Office will review Lee Myung-bak's application for execution outside prison on the grounds of health at the beginning of the month on June 28. If the execution is approved, Lee Myung-bak will be released from prison that night.
Lee Myung-bak was born in 1941 and served as President of South Korea from 2008 to 2013.
In October 2020, Lee Myung-bak was sentenced to 17 years in prison on suspicion of corruption and bribery, and was fined 13 billion won and 5.78 billion won in criminal proceeds.
