For its 20th edition, the Culture Bar-bars festival will give the voice.
The event, launched in the 1990s to promote the “vitality” and “cultural diversity” of café-concerts, celebrates its return for three days from this Thursday evening.
In total, 600 shows and events, most often concerts, will take place in more than 200 bars in around sixty French cities, from Lille to Toulouse, Rennes, Paris, Brest and Angers.
In Nantes too, epicenter of this popular festival, where the program will be the most extensive with nearly a hundred bars and clubs involved.
Some renowned artists, such as Rubin Steiner, Matt Elliott, La Poison, Kalash or even Mc Fly & Carlito, will be there in the city of the dukes.
“An essential link in the musical chain”
The festival, which claims to be the second national cultural event after the Fête de la musique, is once again taking place in a particular context since many establishments, put in difficulty by the health crisis, have been forced to lower the curtain in recent months.
“The pandemic has been a tragedy for an entire professional sector, for artists, intermittent workers, but also for the public, deplore the organizers of Bar-bars.
Pillars of cultural diversity, culture cafés are an essential link in the musical chain.
They offer a first stage to talents of all origins, a first real audience to conquer, which the confined artists have missed so much.
