Brazilian football legend Pelé appeared smiling in a Christmas photo posted on Twitter on Saturday, days after being released from Sao Paulo hospital where he underwent chemotherapy for colon cancer.

“Today, I hope you are experiencing moments of love, peace and union, like me.

Merry Christmas friends, ”writes the 81-year-old ex-footballer, next to his wife, Marcia Aoki, in front of a tree surrounded by gifts.

Hoje eu espero que vocês estejam vivendo momentos de amor, paz e união, assim como eu.

Feliz Natal, meus amigos.
