With Cristiano Ronaldo, the dream is still allowed and in Manchester United's lair, the fans went back twelve years when the Portuguese was the master of Old Traford.

Saturday 11 September, the number 7 first opened the scoring in added time of the 1st half against Newcastle for this meeting counting for the 4th day of the Premier League.

A 119th achievement in red which will not remain among the most beautiful, Ronaldo only had to push into the net a ball released by goalkeeper Freddie Woodman after a strike from Mason Greenwood.

Provisional leader

The second goal will be more "ronaldesque".

Thrown in depth by left-back Luke Shaw, the Portuguese takes the ball from the right and then places it between the legs of Freddie Woodman Woodman with a strike from the left (62nd).

Cristiano Ronaldo therefore signs a winning return, he who lives his second adventure with Manchester United.

Already before the kick-off, Ronaldo was entitled to an ovation worthy of the greatest sports heroes for his return to the "Theater of Dreams", after leaving Juventus at the very end of the summer transfer window.

Fans also cheered him on every time he scored in the warm-up.

With the win, Manchester United provisionally returns the lead in the English league but remains under threat from Chelsea, who later play Aston Villa on Saturday, Liverpool who travel to Leeds on Sunday, and Everton who host Burnley on Monday.

But for a few hours at least, Cristiano Ronaldo will have put his team where they would like to return for good.

Dreaming is always allowed.

What a day 🤗

What a result 💪
