In recent days, continuous heavy rains in western Venezuela caused floods and mudslides. At least 20 people have been killed and 17 others are missing.

Venezuelan Interior Minister Ceballos stated on the 25th local time that at least 54543 people in 87 cities in the country were affected by the floods, and some roads and bridges were also damaged.

He said that nine states, including Merida, Tachira and Zulia, are still in a state of emergency.

In the severely disaster-stricken state of Merida, the governor of the state, Guevara, said that more than 1,200 houses were destroyed in the local area, 17 people were still missing, and rescuers were still carrying out search and rescue activities in the rubble.
