November 24, 1872 was born Russian and Soviet diplomat, the first People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the USSR Georgy Chicherin. Being a nobleman and a royal official, he became interested in the ideas of Marxism and became a member of the RSDLP. After the October Revolution, Chicherin was appointed Deputy People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the RSFSR, and then - the first ever head of the foreign affairs department of the Soviet Union. A breakthrough in the diplomatic isolation of Soviet Russia and the USSR is associated with his name. Largely thanks to the efforts of Chicherin, the first international treaties in the history of the Soviet state were signed.
