A gendarmerie operation in Robert (Martinique) enabled the dismantling of arms trafficking.

A resident of the city, suspected of being responsible, was indicted on Saturday.

The individual in his thirties was then remanded in custody, reports

An investigation had been carried out by the prosecution of Fort-de-France (Martinique).

A well-established business

The investigations told the gendarmes that the suspect had been acting for ten years without having attracted the attention of the police.

The intervention in the workshop of the thirty-year-old was carried out by the soldiers of the company of La Trinité (Martinique) and the local branch of the Intervention Group of the National Gendarmerie (GIGN).

About 30 firearms and around 100 rounds of ammunition were seized as part of the operation from the concealed premises.

The investigation continues in order to determine the use for which these pistols and revolvers were intended.
