Berlin (dpa / bb) - On the grounds of the Dahlem domain in southwest Berlin, the fire brigade prevented a fire from spreading to historic buildings.

Stables caught fire on Thursday evening, as a fire department spokesman said.

The emergency services were quickly on site.

45 firefighters fought the flames.

It was said that it was still unclear whether animals perished in the stables.

According to the domain's website, the former manor has a history of more than 800 years.

Today's foundation includes an open-air museum, organic farm and craft businesses.
