Several foreign and security policy sources confirm the information, according to the evening newspaper Iltalehti.

The proposal is based on the performance of the F-35 and the durability of the plane.

This puts the Saab's Jas 39 Gripen, which alongside the F-35 was one of the alternatives together with the European Eurofighter Typhoon and the French Dassault Rafale.
