Dutch coach Ronald Koeman was suspended for two matches on Friday due to his expulsion in his team's match against its host Cadiz (zero-zero) on Thursday evening at the end of the sixth stage of the Spanish Football League.

The Competition Commission, the disciplinary body of the Spanish Football Federation, imposed the lowest possible penalty for the protest, following the referee's report.

Match referee Carlos del Cerro Grande explained that Coman was sent off for "protesting against the fourth official, by raising his arms in the air, and raising his voice before leaving the technical area and saying: (The referee must whistle, the referee must whistle, he must whistle!) At a time when the fourth official had asked him to stop protesting the decisions of the referees."

The Catalan coach was sent off at the last minute of the match after protesting the presence of a second ball on the field.

Koeman said in the press conference after the match: "In this country, we are expelled without doing anything," explaining that he wanted "to tell the fourth official that there is a second ball on the field, and he must stop playing."

Koeman, who is facing great pressure due to the disappointing results of his team and the modest performance of his players, will miss the two matches of Barcelona against its guest Levante on Sunday in the seventh stage, and its host Atletico Madrid, the defending champion, on the second of October in the eighth stage.

The Competition Committee also punished Dutch international midfielder Frenkie de Jong with a one-match ban for receiving two yellow cards in the same match.
