Fati is “shocked” due to the injury and is out of action for a long time

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez said today that striker Ansu Fati is shocked by the injury he suffered during the 3-2 loss to Athletic Bilbao in the King's Cup Round of 16 and the club will decide soon whether he needs to undergo surgery.

The 19-year-old Spanish international participated as a substitute in the second half of last Thursday's match in the King's Cup round of 16, as he was trying to return to the matches after his absence for two months, but he cried after suffering a new injury and had to leave the field.

"Ansu Fati is very affected by the injury. It is a difficult situation. We have gathered with his family because of this new setback. We want to recover him mentally, give him love because it is a difficult moment and we need him. All of us, although he is the most affected of course. We want him to never get injured again."

Fati faces another long period of absence from the stadiums, after the tests he underwent yesterday revealed an exacerbation of an old injury to his leg.

Xavi added, explaining that a new surgery could be an alternative. "Such situations are uncontrollable, and we will develop a recovery plan. Next Monday, we will decide what will be done with Ansu Fati."

Fati, who inherited the No. 10 shirt from Lionel Messi after the Argentine striker left for Paris Saint-Germain, rose from the youth sector of the Catalan club, but he suffered many injuries and underwent four surgeries to treat an injury to his left knee he suffered in November 2020.

Fati starred with Barcelona at the age of 16 when he entered the history of the Spanish First Division after becoming the second youngest player to participate in the tournament.

And he quickly established himself as one of the most prominent young talents in the world and became the youngest player to score a goal in the Champions League and with the Spain national team as well.
