The Association of Family Entrepreneurs in Hesse has spoken out in favor of using the area alone as a yardstick for calculating the property tax in the future.

It is to be praised that the Hessian state government is not adopting the “extremely bureaucratic” model of the Federal Ministry of Finance, said Dirk Martin, the state chairman of the association.

The calculation model presented on Monday by the Hessian Finance Minister Michael Boddenberg (CDU) for this state, however, includes "superfluous parameters" such as the location of the property. That means a lot of effort for the authorities. In addition, there is no guarantee that the total tax revenue will remain constant in the long term due to the changeover. The business location Hessen needs a "simple and low-bureaucratic property tax model that entails as little conversion effort as possible for companies and the financial administration". That is only the case with the pure area model.
