Peter Fischer, President of the Bundesliga soccer club Eintracht Frankfurt, and gymnast Sarah Voss have been honored by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).

Fischer, who has been at the head of the traditional Hessian club for 22 years, received the Fair Play Prize of German sport, and Olympic participant Voss was honored with a special prize.

The 22-year-old from Cologne triggered lively debates by wearing a body suit instead of the usual skimpy gymnastics outfit at last year's European Championships in Basel.

"Unfortunately, the sexualization of women and girls in sport is still a hot topic," said jury member Gudrun Doll-Tepper.

Fischer was honored for "the way in which he has repeatedly shown his stance on social issues in recent years," as Erich Laaser, Honorary President of the Association of German Sports Journalists, explained.

The awards are to be presented in Wiesbaden on May 5th.
