Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The investigative committee of the Stuttgart state parliament wants to hear Stefanie Hinz as a witness today in the affair about the multi-million dollar financing of the Expo pavilion.

Hinz was once Head of Strategy, Law, Europe and Foreign Trade in the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

The lawyer and top civil servant is currently the state police chief.

The project company, i.e. the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Engineers, the Freiburg Exhibition Center and the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering and Organization had spoken of a project “from business for business”.

However, she did not succeed in finding enough business supporters for the project in Dubai.

Therefore the country had to step in financially.

The estimated total costs for the construction and operation of the pavilion as well as for participation in the Expo are currently expected to be 15 million euros.

Most of this will be borne by the country because it stepped into the breach to save the project.

Originally, it was assumed that the cost would be 2.8 million euros.

Economics minister Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut (CDU) had admitted mistakes of her department during her interrogation, but no personal responsibility.
