The Polish volleyball players, eliminated in the semi-final of the Euro-2021 volleyball tournament on Saturday by Slovenia, consoled themselves with the bronze medal, by dominating Serbia, continental title holder, 3 sets to 0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-22), Sunday in Katowice.

Vital Heynen's players are back on the podium of a European Championship, two years after winning bronze in Paris against France.

However, they were aiming for another metal and presented themselves at home in front of the more than 10,000 spectators of the Spodek Arena in Katowice as the longest favorites for the European title, but were once again surprised in the semi-finals by Slovenia (3-1), as in 2019.

Double reigning world champion (2014 and 2018), Poland has not won the European title since their coronation in 2009 against France.

The Euro-2021 final pits Slovenia against Italy on Sunday evening (8:30 p.m.) in Katowice.
