It is noted that the European Council at the summit discussed the recent jump in energy prices and the impact of rising prices on citizens and businesses.

“The set of measures presented in the European Commission document on how to deal with rising energy prices contains useful measures both in the short and longer term ... The European Council will keep the situation under control and will return to it in December”, - said the press secretary of the head of the European Council Barend Leits.

The next summit of EU heads of state is scheduled for December 16-17.

Earlier it was reported that the heads of the EU countries instructed the European Commission and member states to provide support to consumers and European companies in connection with the energy crisis caused by rising gas prices.
