Etisalat... the world's fastest mobile network for the second year in a row
Ookla, a world leader in broadband and mobile network speed testing and data download and transmission speed analysis, has confirmed that Etisalat has outperformed Etisalat globally for the second year in a row by retaining the title of “The World’s Fastest Mobile Network” for 2021.
According to a statement issued today, this global achievement enhances the position of the UAE, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of its founding, making the UAE the fastest in the world on the mobile speed index;
This is in line with the government's aspirations to achieve leadership, growth and a bright future.
The award was received by the Chief Operating Officer of Etisalat Emirates, Masoud M.
Sherif Mahmoud, at Etisalat's headquarters in Dubai, in the presence of the CEO of Etisalat Group, Eng. Hatem Dowidar, and a group of Etisalat officials in various departments, including the technology department.
This ranking is based on Ookla's careful analysis of millions of tests performed by customers across each network to check internet speeds, using different applications on mobile platforms.
The Speedtest Awards are awarded to the best network operators and are determined using the Speed Score, which includes a measurement of each operator's download and transmission speeds, contributing to the overall network speed performance rating.
Etisalat succeeded in achieving a record average download speed of 193.88 Mbps with a speed rating of 153.05, to be the only operator around the world to obtain a rating above 150 according to the Ookla® Speedtest index.
In addition to the title of "The World's Fastest Mobile Network", according to the data of the "Speedtest Awards", Etisalat was also awarded the title of "The Fastest Fixed Broadband Network in the GCC" for the first and second quarters of 2021.

He added, "This achievement reflects how far Etisalat has outperformed in Q1 - Q2 2021, according to comprehensive analyzes from (Ookla) based on speed tests performed by many subscribers by Speedtest."
Etisalat's investments over the past years have succeeded in building one of the most modern communications networks in the world, which has mainly contributed to improving the overall performance of the UAE on global indicators, to be ranked first in the world between January and June of 2021 in terms of average download speed.
