Ethiopia: Egypt and Sudan do not want to admit that the second filling of the Renaissance Dam did not harm them

Ethiopia accused Egypt and Sudan of not recognizing that filling the Renaissance Dam did not harm them, while Sudan warned of an imminent flood of the Blue Nile, and Egypt also confirmed that the level of the High Dam lake would rise soon.

Ethiopian Foreign Ministry spokesman Dina Mufti said that Egypt and Sudan do not want to admit that the second filling of the Renaissance Dam did not harm them.

Mufti confirmed that the mobilization was carried out in the required quantity, with more than 13 billion cubic meters.

On the other hand, the Sudanese Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources warned of the flooding of the Blue Nile in Sudan after the rise in the level of water entering it.

The daily statement of the Flood Committee revealed that the Blue Nile approached the flood stage, as the water intake at the El-Dim station at the Sudanese-Ethiopian border reached about 550 million cubic meters, which is only 60 million cubic meters less than the flood stage.

The committee expected that the Blue Nile sector will witness an average increase of 40 centimeters during the next three days, and that the North Khartoum sector will witness a rise of about 30 centimeters.

For his part, the Egyptian Minister of Irrigation Mohamed Abdel-Aty revealed that the level of the High Dam lake will rise in early August due to the increase in rainfall rates at the sources of the Nile.

The Egyptian minister stressed the continuation of raising the state of alert and the degree of readiness to manage the water system with the highest degree of efficiency, to provide the necessary water needs for all sectors.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed, in a telephone conversation with his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, a number of issues, including the issue of the Renaissance Dam. To fill and operate the dam, according to an Egyptian ministry statement.

The statement added that Shoukry looks forward to continued consultation and coordination with France in this regard.
