A group of multinational business councils and chambers of commerce, based in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, have joined forces to work to ensure the continuity of its business in the UAE.


On the initiative of the American Chambers of Commerce in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the Multinational Joint Working Group was established with the aim of coordinating efforts to reduce the effects of the "Covid 19" pandemic, and to assess the challenges facing corporate continuity and support the business community in relation to the details that require government assistance in the UAE , generally.


The joint working group will provide a communication channel between its members, and is committed to supporting them individually where possible, in addition to presenting the joint strategic issues at the governmental level.


The joint working group includes 25 diversified business councils representing more than 6,500 foreign companies operating in the UAE.


The group is a government business initiative that was established to be a supporter and a source from which the government of the UAE can benefit to obtain clear and useful opinions on business sectors.


The joint working group cooperates with the "Abu Dhabi Chamber", "Dubai Chamber" and other Emirati governmental bodies.


The mission of the Multinational Joint Working Group is to increase awareness of corporate goals and their development, and to support the improvement of policies that establish a strong business environment. The group will act as a single channel of communication between its members, representatives of multinational business communities, and the UAE government.


APCO, the global public relations and strategic communications company, will play the advisory role of the multinational joint working group and support its efforts to continue the business of companies in the UAE.


The Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Muhammad Hilal Al Muhairi, said that the Chamber will continue to support the efforts of the Abu Dhabi government in particular and the UAE in general to help companies and reduce the negative effects of the emerging Corona virus on the economy.


Al-Muhairi pointed out that the Abu Dhabi Chamber, which represents the voice of the private sector in the emirate, launched a number of initiatives since the outbreak of the pandemic, adding that “these initiatives are designed to motivate companies and encourage them to effectively confront the current crisis.”


Al-Muhairi praised the fruitful cooperation between business councils and groups in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to mitigate the effects of the pandemic.


He also praised the interest of the American Chambers of Commerce in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to open new communication channels between the public and private sectors to carry out solutions and suggestions on meeting the requirements of the business community and implement precautionary measures to ensure business continuity and effectiveness.


At a recent meeting of the group, the Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Hamad Buamim, spoke about the current business landscape that has changed as a result of the pandemic of "Covid-19", stressing the importance of close cooperation between the public and private sectors to face new challenges and developing and innovating appropriate solutions that ensure mitigation of The repercussions of the pandemic on the business sector.


Bouamim considered that the establishment of the working group is an important development that would support the continuous efforts to meet the changing needs of the business community in the Emirates.


He said: "We look forward to cooperating with the various business councils and chambers of commerce in the country to ensure the provision of an encouraging business environment that enhances efforts for economic recovery in these current circumstances."


In turn, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Dubai, Sami Busaba, praised the efforts of the UAE since the beginning of the spread of the "Covid 19" pandemic, which helped guarantee the safety of families and societies.


He added: "Now, with companies returning to normal operations, we believe that the proven commitment of the UAE government to continuing to support a strong business environment for companies across the country will contribute to raising levels of confidence in doing business."
