Eriksen implants a defibrillator

The Danish Football Association announced today that Christian Eriksen, the national team player, will have a defibrillator implanted after he suffered a heart attack during the match against Finland at the European Championship "Euro 2020".

Denmark's national team doctor, Morten Boessen, said in a statement: "A number of tests were carried out on Christian's heart. It was then decided that he should receive an ICD. The decision was necessary after ventricular fibrillation led to a heart attack."

The Danish Football Association stated that Eriksen, who suffered a cardiac arrest during Saturday's match against Finland and was resuscitated on the field, had already agreed to this in hospital.

It is noteworthy that the Inter Milan player obtaining an implantable defibrillator does not necessarily mean the end of his career as an athlete, as there are athletes such as Dutch defender Daley Blind and German pole vaulter Katharina Bauer continue to practice their sport using the medical device.
