On August 8, the reporter approached the "miniature world" of ancient Chinese architecture, and saw the eaves and corners, pavilions and lofts... Every piece of exquisite ancient building models were made of precious woods such as cochin rosewood, red sandalwood, and huanghuali. More than 10,000 or even hundreds of thousands of small components are hand-built by tenon and mortise, which is exquisite and admirable.

Li Changchun, a craftsman of ancient building model making in Dacheng County, Langfang City, Hebei Province, has been making ancient building models since he was 18 years old. He has been studying ancient building construction techniques for 30 years.

Through hand-measuring, drawing, and scaling down, and through complicated processes such as drying, cutting, mortise-and-mortise assembly, and gold drawing, he stitched together many famous ancient architectural models such as the Forbidden City Corner Tower.

Dacheng County is a well-known mahogany furniture production base in northern China, with more than 50,000 employees and an annual sales of 8.9 billion yuan.

In recent years, while developing the mahogany industry, Dacheng County has actively promoted the protection, inheritance and innovation of intangible cultural heritage culture. More and more artisans have inherited ancient woodworking construction skills by making ancient architectural models.

I hope to pass on the skills of ancient architectural models, so that more people can experience the Chinese woodworking culture through ancient architectural models. What we hold is not only craftsmanship but also ideas, and we inherit not only skills but also ideas.
