Jürgen Klopp raved about Liverpool FC and the city in north-west England at the parade after losing the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

"Without a doubt there is no other club that lost the Champions League final the night before that people come here in that frame of mind.

Absolutely outstanding," said the 54-year-old coach on the Reds website.

"This is the best club in the world - I don't care what other people think."

Even after the 0-1 draw against Real Madrid in the premier class final on Saturday night, the team were celebrated by numerous fans in the parade through Liverpool for their successes of the season.

The players and Klopp rode around town on a red double-decker bus on Sunday afternoon with a confetti cannon on board.

"It's the best sign you can get: you don't have to win, you just have to give everything you have, throw everything on the pitch and the people of Liverpool love you," said Klopp.

Liverpool had won the League Cup and the FA Cup this season.

In the championship, the club had to settle for second place behind Manchester City.

"It's been an incredible season," said Klopp, concluding with a message to supporters: "Love you all!

And I'm not drunk, not a bit, just emotional!"
