To keep pace with the future huge demand in the global travel sector

Emirates Airlines president proposes building planes twice the size of the "giant"

Emirates Airlines President, Tim Clark, stressed the importance of manufacturing large aircraft that can accommodate more passengers, so that they can keep pace with the future great demand in the global travel sector after the “Covid 19” pandemic, provided that these aircraft are technologically innovative, and able to rely on synthetic fuels. , instead of "fossil".

Clark told "Airline Ratings" that he had discussed with the European company "Airbus" to come up with innovative designs for future aircraft, proposing an A380 aircraft, twice its current size, equipped with three or four zero-emissions engines.

"If we can produce jet engines that use synthetic fuels, you need to ask what size aircraft you need to meet the demand for long- and medium-haul flights," he said.

He continued, "Aircraft must be lighter and less costly in terms of fuel, operating partially or completely on synthetic fuel."

Clark pointed out that the wave of demand for travel is coming, and we have to prepare, as there is a “tsunami” of demand coming, noting that restoring the growth curve before 2019 during the coming period, up to the middle of 2030 with an annual growth rate of 4%, this means that eight Billions of people will travel.

He asked, "How will it accommodate eight billion if it is left to small and medium-sized aircraft?"

He continued, "It is not possible to keep up with that demand, and the prices of airline tickets will rise sharply."
