Bremen (dpa / lni) - Bremen will not block the planned federal emergency brake with stricter corona restrictions in the Federal Council.

"We will not call the mediation committee," said Senate spokesman Christian Dohle on Wednesday evening.

On Thursday, the vote in the Federal Council will be about whether the mediation committee should be called and whether there is an objection.

In both cases, Bremen will abstain, announced Dohle.

However, from Bremen's point of view, the federal government should have dared to take a bigger step in the corona tests.

According to the spokesman, the smallest federal state advocates "a real test obligation in companies."

Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) also announced in the state parliament on Wednesday that the federal emergency brake would not be blocked.

From the beginning, Lower Saxony consistently adhered to the emergency brake agreed between the federal and state governments at the beginning of March, Weil said in Hanover.

In Lower Saxony there is no need for a federal regulation to implement them, in other countries it is obviously necessary.
