In November of last year, a Taiwanese student in his twenties was hit by a car driven by a drunk driver and died on a road in Seoul.

The prosecution sentenced a driver who had already been drunk driving twice for six years, but today (14th) the court sentenced him to eight years in prison, which is unusually higher than the prosecution's sentence.

Zeng Yilin, a 28-year-old Taiwanese student who has been studying in Korea since 2015.

He, who called Korea the safest place on earth, was killed by a drunk driving vehicle that violated the signal while crossing the crosswalk on the way home.

The 52-year-old driver, Mr. Kim's blood alcohol concentration, was close to the level of license cancellation, and ran 30km faster than the speed limit.

Over 220,000 petitions for severe punishment of Mr. Kim, who showed up to his history of drunk driving twice, have passed over 220,000.

When the prosecution sentenced Kim, who was handed over to trial, to six years in prison last month, Zeng's family and friends rebelled against him, saying it was not a sufficient price.

And today the court's decision is eight years in prison and the highest sentence in the court.

The judge pointed out that "I was punished for drunk driving and got drunk and grabbed the steering wheel."

In particular, Kim claimed that he could not see the victim due to an abnormality in the lens for vision correction just before the accident.

The bereaved family members who heard of the results of the court sentence appealed that the same pain should not be repeated again.

[Zeng Qinghui / Victim's father: Thank you to the judge who sentenced him to 2 years more than the old amount. We hope that this ruling will reduce further drunk driving crimes in Korea in the future... .]

At the same time, he stressed that he was not willing to agree with the driver, and that he would continue to fight so that Mr. Kim could pay the penalty.
